MEMBERS’ CORNER Spring 2018

OAUG Member Snapshot

The OAUG Board of Directors Welcomes Three New Members in 2018

The Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG) Board of Directors provides leadership, influence and guidance to drive and enhance the focus of the OAUG. In following the mission of the OAUG, the board works with the OAUG Executive Director to create a strategic plan for the year that supports the views of the members and works to enhance the capabilities of the organization.

Joining the OAUG Board in 2018 are:

Felecia Alston-Green

Deputy CIO,
DeKalb County Government

Felecia has a longstanding record of success in the management of technology programs, practices and initiatives in the public sector arena, with special expertise in Oracle E-Business Suite releases 11-12.1. As the deputy CIO at DeKalb County Government, Felecia is responsible for and oversees all the county’s enterprise applications. She is involved in and has presented at the local Atlanta OAUG group.

My favorite movie is Gladiators with Russell Crowe. My favorite lines from the movie are “What we do in life echoes in eternity” and “Death smiles at us all. All that man can do is smile back.”

Is there an Oracle project you’re especially proud of? Why?
Our E-Business Suite upgrade from 11.5.10 to 12.1.3. The project was done in-house without a partner or implementer. I am especially proud of the project because it is the epitome of what a few people can achieve with hard work, determination, communication and collaboration. We named our upgrade passes after Olympic medals. Our resounding theme was to “Play Like Champions and Go for the Gold.”

Do you have a favorite OAUG program or activity? Why?
I equally enjoy COLLABORATE and the OAUG Insight magazine. COLLABORATE provides the opportunity to meet and talk with your counterparts and learn from them and their implementation experiences. The OAUG Insight magazine feature stories are always so timely. The 2017 fall edition highlighted a public sector Hyperion Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service (PBCS) implementation. We commenced the same in November 2017. The article was very timely and provided great insight into how to approach the implementation and what to expect.

Tamicka Camp

Oracle ERP Lead,
Southern Company Services

Tamicka began work with Oracle EBS on version 11.5.1.02 as a desktop support analyst providing support for basic application navigation and JINIT support. Currently, she is leading an Oracle EBS upgrade project from 12.1.3 to 12.2.6, including the implementation of iExpense. Tamicka has been a volunteer on the OAUG Young Professionals/Emerging Leaders Steering Committee since its launch in 2014.

How does the OAUG fit into your professional networking plan?
The OAUG allows me to establish relationships with peers and get insight on how others are using Oracle products. It also allows me to talk with my peers on challenges that have been faced and how they were handled. Plus, I get points of contact to ask other questions and get insight on how to tackle issues I may be facing.

As technologies change, OAUG members must evolve their knowledge and skill sets. How does the OAUG help?
The OAUG helps me get insight on some of the emerging technologies on the horizon. Plus, the OAUG makes it easier for me to talk with individuals from companies or vendors who have worked with companies that have become early adaptors of these new technologies and changes. I can get firsthand insight on challenges they may have encountered and solutions they used to overcome these challenges.

Jason Watkins

Senior Manager of Financial
Operations, Hillsborough
County Aviation Authority

Jason brings over 17 years of budgeting, forecasting, auditing and accounting experience in the public and private sectors to the OAUG’s board. He also serves as a functional lead for many Oracle financial applications implementations, patches and upgrades.

Have you had any standout OAUG networking experiences?
The best OAUG networking experience have actually been getting to know some of the Oracle users in other businesses in the Tampa Bay area. We see each other at different events and we’ve established friendships that allow us to bounce ideas off each other in a safe way.

What keeps our members up at night? How can the OAUG help?
We’re being pressed really hard, through various channels, to migrate to the cloud as soon as possible. Our realities “on the ground” are such that we have competing motivations and business pressures that don’t necessarily align perfectly with Oracle’s strategic goals, particularly in the short term. Having access to information and education through the OAUG is extremely helpful as we formulate plans.

Vision

To be the trusted, go-to source for connecting and sharing members’ experiences, while influencing Oracle and partner solutions worldwide.

Mission

The Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG) is an independent, global, member-led organization that maximizes customers’ investment in Oracle and partner solutions.
